Pomodoro Technique Explanation: Stop Missing out on Your Super Productivity
The Pomodoro technique is a productivity hack where you work for 25 minutes, rest for 5 and then rinse and repeat 4 times, until your longer break of 15-30 minutes at the 2 hour mark. It was created by then university student Francesco Cirillo in the 1980s.
To use the Pomodoro Technique:
- Set an egg timer (or a tomato timer as for the techniques namesake!) for 25 minutes. Or find a timer online like this one.
- Work on one task for the 25 minutes
- Take a break for 5 minutes. Stretch, meditate, and otherwise free yourself from the computer.
- Repeat a total of 4 times to hit the 2 hour mark.
- Take a longer break up to 30 minutes.
The key to its effectiveness? One task for the 25 minutes. Get the task done early? Sweet! Now get some reading or other studying in.
I used it during the pandemic lockdown and over did it. So now I don’t like it as much. Try it and use sparingly, but it‘s always good to try new things. My wife loves it when she can’t focus well and needs that forced reset where you don’t think, you just do.
And remember, it doesn’t have to be 25 minutes on and 5 off. It can be whatever works best for you to focus and get things done. See the video below for more, and let me know how it works for you! O hope you enjoyed this Pomodoro Technique Explanation.
