This page is meant to give you an overview of the 16 Myers-Briggs personality types. If you don’t know your type, go here to take the free test and figure it out, or continue to read on to determine your type. In brief, the concept of personality type was first thought of by Carl Jung around 100 years ago. It was then expanded upon by Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, forming the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator which is used to classify the types today.
What The MTBI is
The personality test is a way to give you insight on yourself to better understand why you are the way you are. It helps you navigate your closest personal relationships, understand the people you interact with at work, and why people do what they do. With a deeper understanding of personality types you’ll get better at social interactions.
What the MBTI isn't
The personality test is not an end all be all. It should not be used as a label or an excuse, but a way to gain a deeper understanding of people. It doesn’t mean there are only sixteen types of people, every person is unique according to their own strengths and weaknesses. It’s a fallible tool that isn’t perfect, but if used correctly can be a huge boon for our personal growth.

16 personalities: A Bird’s Eye View
The personalities will consist of either I or E (Introverted vs. Extraverted), N or S (Intuition vs. Sensing), T or F (Thinking vs. Feeling) and J vs. P (Judging vs. Prospecting).
The combinations of these four inputs give you the sixteen types.
Introverted vs. Extraverted
Introverted (I): Prefer to rely on their own inner world for energy vs. the outside world.
Extraverted (E): Enjoy engaging with the external world and get energy and recharge by being with and around other people.
Intuitive vs. Sensing
Inuitive (N): Dream, fantasize and question why things happen the way they do, always feeling slightly detached from the actual, concrete world.
Observant (S): More interested in facts and observable things, focusing on the tried and true methods for accomplishing a task.
Thinking vs. Feeling
Thinking (T): Seek logic and rational arguments, generally relying on their head rather than their heart.
Feeling (F): They would rather cooperate than compete, although it would be a big mistake to see Feeling types as naïve or easily swayed – quite the contrary, they are likely to fight tooth and nail for what they believe in.
Judging vs. Prospecting
Judging (J): They prefer clarity and closure, always going with the plan rather than the flow.
Prospecting (P): More flexible and relaxed when it comes to dealing with both expected and unexpected challenges
